Model:98X      Country of Origin:USA USA

Category:Safety Tester (ACI/DCI/IR/GB)

Overview:

The 98x series megohmmeters meet today's demanding requirements for higher-voltage IR (insulation resistance) testing. In the relentless race for greater efficiency, EV and solar panel arrays now operate at voltage rails up to 2.5 kV. A 1 kV tester won't cut it here—it's time to upgrade to the Vitrek 98x. For applications requiring insulation resistance testing across multiple conductors, the Vitrek 98x1 IR tester can directly control up to four 64-channel Vitrek 964i high-voltage scanners. Using a PC running Vitrek QT Enterprise™ software, a single instrument can handle up to 1,020 test points.

The 98x Series megohmmeters meet today's demanding requirements for higher-voltage IR (insulation resistance) testing.

In the relentless race for higher efficiency, EV and solar panel arrays now operate at voltage rails up to 2.5 kV. A 1 kV tester won't cut it here—it's time to upgrade to the Vitrek 98x!

Built on the same DSP technology that made Vitrek a leader in hipot test systems, the 98xi instruments deliver a unique combination of performance features, including:

  • Multi-dwell capability (multiple steps without returning to zero between steps)

  • High-speed testing (dwell times as low as 100 ms)

  • Pico-amp leakage measurement (with stable, accurate 50-terraohm IR readings)

  • Continuously variable IR test voltage (adjustable across the instrument's full output range)

  • Multi-mode insulation resistance testing (three test modes—end on time, end on pass, end on fail)

  • Capacitance test mode (essential for solar panels, cable harnesses, and other capacitive loads)

For applications requiring insulation resistance testing of multiple conductors, Vitrek 98×1 IR testers can directly control up to four 64-channel Vitrek 964i high-voltage scanners. With a PC running Vitrek QT Enterprise™ software, a single instrument can handle up to 1,020 test points.

The new 981i and 983i megohmmeters are engineered for the most demanding high-resistance measurement applications—rugged applications that most other IR testers simply cannot handle. So when you need to test higher-voltage IR values, such as today's EV systems and higher-voltage solar arrays, look to Vitrek for the IR tester your production line needs.

What sets the Vitrek 98x Series IR testers apart?
First, these units are built on Vitrek's proven DSP technology, so they can operate into capacitive loads that most other equipment cannot handle. In terms of output voltage range, Vitrek offers the 981i up to 6.5 kVDC and the 983i up to 11 kV.

Need to run insulation resistance tests on multi-conductor harnesses?
Out of the box, the 981i and 983i can directly control up to four 64-channel high-voltage scanners. That's up to 256 test points, and with a PC running Vitrek Q-Test software, the count can be expanded to 1,020 test points. The high-voltage switching system of choice is the Vitrek 964i, which accommodates eight 8-channel switch cards with 7, 10, and 15 kV ratings.

In the relentless race for higher efficiency, EV and solar panel arrays now operate at 2.5 kV.
A 1 kV tester won't cut it here—it's time to upgrade to the 98x!

Product Features and Benefits

  • The highest range of IR test voltages — Selectable 6.5KVDC or 11KVDC maximum output
  • Fast IR readings — Dual Coldfire microprocessors and dual DSPs for high-speed output control, providing dwell times as low as 100ms
  • High resistance measurement range — Transfer measurements up to 150 teraohms
  • Expanded test sequence memoryCan perform up to 100 tests with up to 254 steps per insulation resistance test. Testing can be performed via front panel, Ethernet, RS232, or optional GPIB
  • Multi-dwell function — Allows dwelling at different voltage levels without returning to zero between test steps – greatly simplifying advanced analysis of dielectric performance
  • Ethernet, RS232, digital I/O, and scanner control — All standard interfaces – providing the highest level of test automation. GPIB available
  • Pico-Amp leakage current measurementEnsures accurate detection of the lowest leakage current levels, with 150 Teraohm transfer and 50 Teraohm IR readings that are stable and precise
  • Test-dedicated fixture and cable compensation —Automatically calibrates offset errors caused by test fixture insulation resistance, capacitance and leakage
  • Multi-mode IR — Precisely obtain values up to 1 teraohm or higher in your choice of 4 IR test modes - end-on-time, end-on-pass or end-on-fail, stable or ramp
  • Continuously variable insulation resistance test voltage — Unlike many IR testers limited to 3 or 4 discrete test voltages, the 981i lets you select the desired test voltage from 30V to 6.5KV with 1-volt resolution. The 983i offers output from 60V to 11KV
  • Capacitive loads — The 981i and 983i are specified for capacitive loads, which most IR testers are not suitable for. This means the 981i and 983i excel at cable IR testing on photovoltaic panels and CMC equipment
  • Measure IR on grounded loadsLine — Some devices under test cannot be isolated from ground; add option HSS2 for precise IR measurement on grounded loads
  • Lightweight design — Higher reliability, easier on your back. Compare the 4.5 kg 981i/983i with anything you've used. Vitrek delivers superior performance in a smaller, lighter footprint
  • 3-year extended warranty — 1-year standard warranty, with a total of 3 years extended warranty including registration and annual factory calibration. Built-in reliability you can trust for years to come
  • Safety testing according to EN 61010-1.EMC compliant with EN 61326-1
  • Manual test mode — Allows variable voltage output during testing with continuous measurement and pass/fail indication until the user stops the test
  • Made in the USA
