 WF1948 (2-channel model)

Since the birth of Japan's NF first multifunction signal generator, we have always been committed to solving our customers' real needs. With the goal of meeting our customers' needs and wishes, and our firm determination to innovate, our multifunction signal generators have continued to evolve.
These new products are new members of our WAVE FACTORY product lineup. WAVE FACTORY products feature precise and stable output, a rich variety of output waveforms, versatility with various oscillation modes, excellent user usability, and flexible and convenient waveform editing to meet engineers' needs.
NF believes that the standard for oscillators is to support flexible waveform generation, and we will continue to spare no effort in providing more advanced multifunction signal generators.

Features:

image.pngLow noise

Compared with previous models, the noise level is reduced to one tenth* when outputting a relatively large voltage (approximately 2Vp-p/50Ω, no DC overlap) at frequencies within 300kHz. By using an attenuator, the noise level at low voltage output of approximately 1Vp-p or lower is reduced to between one half and one third of previous products. This achieves low noise across the entire output range, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

*Previous models: WF1973/WF1974

image.pngLow distortion

The entire circuit has been optimized so that the signal generator achieves a sine wave and harmonic distortion rate of 0.04% or lower. The waveform amplitude resolution reaches 16-bit, providing high-quality sine waves. (Settable frequency range: 20Hz-20kHz, amplitude: 0.25Vp-p/50Ω or above)

image.pngWaveform amplitude resolution: 16 bits

Our unique circuit design achieves 16-bit waveform amplitude resolution, the highest level for 30MHz-class high-frequency oscillators. High-quality 16-bit provides high-quality waveform amplitude resolution for the waveforms you need, including sine waves, square waves, and arbitrary waves.

image.pngHigh-precision amplitude setting

Based on the amplitude and DC offset (including high/low level settings), the auto-ranging function helps select the optimal output voltage range. In addition, by reducing the deterioration of amplitude setting accuracy at the set level, it becomes possible to obtain high-precision amplitude settings.

image.pngFloating

Each output terminal is insulated from the chassis, which makes it possible to connect to terminal equipment at different potentials. Including floating output terminals reduces noise caused by ground loops.

image.pngLow-noise exhaust fan

The fan rotation frequency (or rotations per minute) is controlled according to the detected ambient temperature. At normal temperature, excluding startup and abnormal operation, the noise is one tenth of previous models*

image.png  Rich output waveforms

Output waveforms:
Sine wave, square wave, pulse, ramp wave, arbitrary wave, noise, DC

In addition to standard waveforms such as sine and square waves, 512k-word arbitrary waveforms can also be output. Up to 128 waveforms can be stored in the 4M-word memory. All waveforms are high-resolution 16-bit waveforms. High-quality waveforms are indispensable for improving test reproducibility (or derivation).
Arbitrary waves can be set not only via the product operation panel but also conveniently edited via control software.

 Sweep and modulation functions

Sweeping is possible not only for frequency but also for amplitude, phase, offset, and load (0% to 100%). One-way/round-trip, linear/logarithmic*, continuous/single-shot/gated single-shot can all be combined.

Modulation supports FM, FSK, PM, PSK, AM, DC offset modulation, and PWM modes. Both internal and external modulation are available.
*Logarithmic sweep is limited to frequency only.

  Burst / Trigger / Gate

In burst oscillation mode, oscillation can be started or stopped at any wave count. The WF1947 and WF1948 support four modes;

Auto burst: no trigger required
Triggered burst: oscillation synchronized with trigger
Gating: oscillation synchronized with gate signal
Trigger gating: gated oscillation controlled on/off by the gate signal
The phase of oscillation start/stop and the level of oscillation start/stop can be set.

As a pulse signal generator

It can be used as a pulse signal generator and also as a digital signal source. The pulse wave's duty cycle/time and rise time/fall time can be set independently. Suitable for operation testing of various digital devices and data transmission equipment.

image.png2-channel linked operation

The dual-channel WF1948 supports 2-phase, fixed frequency difference, fixed frequency ratio, differential output, etc. It can also perform various sweeps in dual-channel mode.

The output terminal of each channel is floating relative to the chassis.

Independent (Indep)

The two channels are independent.

2-Phase

Same frequency.

Fixed frequency difference (2-Tone)

Frequency difference remains constant.

Fixed Ratio

The frequency ratio remains constant.

Differential output (Diff)

Inverted waveforms with the same frequency, amplitude, and DC offset.
