UKAS ISO17025:2017 calibration accreditation (power)
In 2013, Newtons4th UK obtained UKASISO17025:2017calibration laboratory accreditation for voltage, current, power, phase, harmonics and flicker. Our motivation for obtaining this accreditation was a commitment to the highest level of metrology in our field of activity and a desire to provide an accredited calibration certificate with every new power analyzer we ship. This was a first in our industry and provides users of N4L power analyzers with a higher level of standard calibration than any other power analyzer manufacturer. Significant time and engineering effort was also spent implementing complex IEC61000-3-2, IEC61000-3-3, IEC61000-3-11 and IEC61000-3-12 harmonics and flicker calibration facilities. This additional accreditation was also recognized, making N4L the first power analyzer manufacturer to offer power analyzer products that meet the measurement standards currently defined by the IEC61000 harmonics and flicker standards. Our accreditation schedule can be viewed on thethis linkUKAS website N4L products combine market-leading accuracy with exceptional stability, giving users confidence in the long-term integrity of their measurements. While we recommend recalibration every 12 months, stability over time and a conservative approach to product specifications allow our products to remain within specification for longer periods. This is demonstrated by many N4L customers who, based on theirISO9001accreditation work, are able to select a 24-month calibration period for the N4L products they own. In addition to providing voltage, current, phase and power calibration up to 850Hz and calorimetric power up to 2MHz,UKAS ISO:17025In addition to accreditation, we have developed a proprietary high-frequency multi-channel signal generator called ACC-IV (Automatic Calibration Controller 4). Combined with custom-designed amplifiers, ACC-IV provides higher signal-level high-frequency voltage and current sources than commercially available calibrators, and gives N4L a way to calibrate our power analyzers over a wider frequency range than any other company. The term "calibration" is commonly used for measuring instruments but is surprisingly misunderstood. Common misconceptions include believing that a unit will be more accurate after calibration, when in fact most traditional calibrations do not change accuracy at all, or that any ISO17025 "accredited" calibration will provide a greater accuracy guarantee than an ISO17025 "traceable" calibration, which is often incorrect. Since N4L offers a wide range of calibration options, including ISO17025 accredited calibration, with an accreditation schedule broader than most power metrology laboratories, we can fairly consider these options. In the document linked below, we summarize the fundamentals of calibration and the benefits of measurement optimization for users during any calibration process. Power measurement calibration – what makes N4L different?, PDF 371kb The exceptional detail and accuracy of our calibrations are achieved through unique calibration hardware combined with an absolute commitment to best metrology practice. This includes standard calibration, calibrating more than 200 calibration points at different levels and frequencies against the adjustment points we use for measurement optimization, thereby ensuring the linearity of the instrument under test and the integrity of the calibration. Investment in 10 fully automated test systems enables N4L to provide the highest level of calibration for every power analyzer we supply. Summary: Every power analyzer comes with two calibration certificates 1. ISO17025 UKAS-accredited voltage, current, phase, power calibration (including low power for EN50564 and Energy Star) and PF up to 850 Hz. 2. Broadband calibration certificates traceable to national standards, covering up to 500kHz (PPA500), 1MHz (PPA1500/PPA3500) and 2MHz (PPA4500/PPA5500)。 Optional calibration: 1.ISO17025 UKASAccreditedHarmonics and flickerCalibration conforms toIEC61000-4-7 / IEC61000-4-15 2.
