With their exceptionally wide test frequency bandwidth, outstanding accuracy and stability, and highly flexible, future-proof design, IWATSU BH analyzers are the unanimous choice of software R&D professionals worldwide.

Q. What frequency range do IWATSU B-H analyzers measure?
A. This depends on the options configured with the B-H analyzer. The measurement frequency of each standalone B-H analyzer model is shown in the table below. For measurement frequencies with options installed, refer to the documentation for each option.
| Model | Measurement frequency |
|---|---|
| SY-8218 | 10 Hz to 10 MHz |
| SY-8219 | 10 Hz to 1 MHz |
In terms of performance, the B-H analyzer can measure across the frequency ranges above, but at the upper limit, pay attention to the inductance L of the device under test (DUT).
The input capacitance C of the B-H analyzer and the inductance L of the DUT form an LC parallel resonant circuit, so the measurement frequency must be kept below 1/10 of the resonant frequency. Please take this into account when selecting a model. The resonant frequency fc can be calculated using the following formula.
L: DUT inductance C: input capacitance of the measuring instrument (approx. 18.5 pF for SY-8218 / SY-8219) N1: number of primary winding turns N2: number of secondary winding turns

In addition, for DUTs with a high phase angle (≧ approx. 87°), resonance effects become more pronounced; when measuring such samples, we recommend measuring at 1/20 or less of the resonant frequency.
Q. Can DC bias measurements be performed with a B-H analyzer?
A. Yes. Combine the SY-8218 / SY-8219 with the optional DC bias test unit SY-960 (SY-961, SY-962). There is no need to wind a dedicated third winding on the DUT for DC excitation, making measurement far simpler than with conventional products.
Q. Can pulse excitation measurements be performed with a B-H analyzer?
A. The SY-8218 / SY-8219 support pulse excitation measurements within the standard 10 Hz to 1 MHz range, limited to 50% duty. A. When combined with the optional DC bias test unit SY-960 (SY-961, SY-962), measurements can be performed over 10 kHz to 1 MHz with an adjustable duty of 10% to 90%.
