Teledyne LeCroy has introduced two new oscilloscope series featuring HD4096 high-resolution technology: the HDO4000 and HDO6000 series. Leveraging LeCroy's latest HD4096 technology, these oscilloscopes deliver higher vertical resolution, faster sample rates, and lower noise floors. Compared with conventional 8-bit oscilloscopes, the HDO captures and displays cleaner, sharper waveforms, making waveform details that were previously difficult to see on 8-bit scopes easy to resolve and measure.
The HDO4000 and HDO6000 series cover bandwidths from 200 MHz to 1 GHz. All HDO models offer a 12.1-inchtouchscreen display and an intuitive user interface, support automated test requirements, and provide waveform math analysis. The HDO also includes WaveScan waveform search and find, history waveform playback, sequence acquisition mode, and LabNotebook report generation—features previously found only on LeCroy's high-end oscilloscopes. The spectrum analysis and power analysis software packages, combined with the HDO's unique 12-bit small-signal resolution, extend the oscilloscope's dynamic range and measurement analysis capabilities.
HD4096 High-Resolution Technology
At the core of HD4096 high-resolution technology are high-sample-rate 12-bit ADCs, an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio front-endamplifier, and a lower-noise overall architecture. Together these enable the HDO series to capture and display signals up to 1 GHz at high sample rates with up to 16 times the vertical resolution of conventional oscilloscopes. Accurately quantifying and measuring small signals is key to debugging and analyzing signals, and HD4096 ensures the oscilloscope delivers unmatched measurement precision and debug capability.
Using LeCroy's exclusive Enhanced Resolution (ERES)filter, users can add 3 bits of vertical resolution for up to 15 bits.
HDO4000 and HDO6000 Oscilloscopes
The HDO4000 offers sample rates up to 2.5 GS/s and memory of 25 Mpts per channel (50 Mpts/ch in interleaved mode), with two- or four-channel models and bandwidths from 200 MHz to 1 GHz. The HDO6000 series offers sample rates up to 2.5 GS/s and up to 250 Mpts of memory per channel, with two- or four-channel models and bandwidths of 350 MHz, 500 MHz, and 1 GHz. All HDO models feature a 12.1-inchtouchscreen display for the best possible user experience.
Advanced Measurement, Debug, and Analysis Capabilities
Precise signal capture and high-sample-rate acquisition are only meaningful when paired with powerful debug and analysis tools. To that end, the HDO series includes a rich set of fast debug tools and in-depth signal analysis capabilities. WaveScan advanced search and find lets users search a single acquisition for runt pulses, glitches, and more than 20 other common signal anomalies, and supports user-defined search criteria for searches lasting hours or even days. History mode lets users replay past waveforms and perform automatic parameter measurements or cursor measurements. Serial trigger and decode quickly isolate bus events and provide multiple trigger types based on bus protocols. Sequence mode segments memory so that fast-edge pulses and anomalies separated by long intervals can be captured in a single acquisition, minimizing dead time between triggers. LabNotebook archiving and report generation quickly archive and print test results and can record the original files and setup environment.
A large set of built-in math functions—such as averaging, enhanced resolution mode, and FFT—along with comprehensive automatic measurement parameters enable the HDO to measure and analyze every aspect of a waveform. In addition to conventional waveform parameter statistics and histograms, the HDO provides trend plots of parameters over time.
Spectrum Analysis and Power Signal Analysis Software Packages
To meet the needs of signal debug and analysis across different application areas, two application software packages have been added to the HDO series: a spectrum analysis package and a power signal analysis package. The spectrum analysis package enables the oscilloscope to perform most operations of a dedicated spectrum analyzer, giving users control over spectrum distribution, bandwidth resolution, centerfrequency, and more. Users can condition input signals withfilters and observe changes in spectral characteristics in real time. Exclusive peak search markers visually identify spectral components and list theirfrequency and amplitude values. Users can select spectral components from the list to locate them and use the spectrum waterfall to observe how the spectrum changes over time.
The power signal analysis software package is dedicated to fast testing and analysis ofpower products, power conversion devices, and circuits, and provides automated loss measurements and a user interface designed specifically forpower supplies. Conduction, off-state, and transmission loss regions are distinguished with color-coded overlays. The software also provides dedicated measurement tools forswitchingpower supply users, control loop modulation analysis, and linepower harmonic analysis.
